Hair is a huge accessory, so finding the perfect hair color hue for your skin tone is crucial.
Best advice? Colorist Sandra Vasilescu explains:
Hair color must complement skin tone and eye color. Hair that is too light, too dark or the wrong hue can make your skin look unflattering. As a general rule, warm skin tones pair well with warm hair color shades and cool skin pairs well with cool hair. Neutral hair color shades are usually safe for most skin tones.
Your best choice is to stick to your color range. For example, a darker skin tone goes well with a brown hair shade that is one to two shades lighter than the original hair color.
Hold up fabrics of various shades close to your face. If the colors that look best on you are warm, then you can choose a color palette that ranges from neutral to warm.
If you are on a low-maintenance hair regimen, then stick with a soft brown hair color that is only one shade lighter and one shade warmer than your natural hair.
Want dimensional color?
It is best to get micro-highlights, also known as babylights. These highlights are super-fine and add dimension without creating big contrast.
Add a bold, vibrant lipstick and you’re party ready!
